This week third class A were working on mini projects on various countries. They conducted some research, created a poster and presented these to the class. The projects were very interesting and we all learned lots of new facts. We even learned some new languages! The countries chosen included Tanzania, France, Ireland, Japan, China, Brazil, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Egypt, Belgium, Australia and England. Great job guys!

Recently 3rd Class A were involved in a school-wide public speaking competition. All the children worked very hard to make their speeches and then gave their oration in front of the class. This took an awful lot of hard work and courage to stand up and speak in front of their peers and I am very proud of them! All children got certificates of participation and some children were awarded highly commended certs. Three children were chosen to represent the class at whole-school level and these were Aimee O Connor, Amy O Sullivan and Grace Bransfield. The whole class was rooting for them and the girls did an excellent job in the Halla on the day! Congrats to all who participated!
In 3rd Class A we recently completed projects on Ancient Egypt. We loved learning about ancient Egypt and we found out some really interesting facts while completing our research. The children worked in groups to create these projects and each group had a different title. Our titles were "Food and Farming", "Children's Lives", "Gods and Religion", "The Pyramids" and "Clothing and Jewellery". The children worked very hard on these projects and really enjoyed presenting them to the class. We all learned lots of facts and had great fun along the way :)
In 3rd Class A we recently completed our "me" projects about a topic of our choice. The children really enjoyed doing this and each child came up with new and creative ideas for their projects. The students then became the teachers and as the projects were presented we learned so much new information about various topics, including snow lepords, fireworks, hurling, Walt Disney, youtubers, video games, horseriding, outer space and Man Utd FC, we even got a project about Zoes life so far which we all enjoyed. The children worked so hard on their projects and we were all very impressed! Here are some pictures of the children presenting their work. Some future múinteoirí here no doubt!! Congratulations to the boys from 3rd class who competed in a Sciath na Scol Indoor football blitz recently. They gave a wonderful performance and did themselves and the school proud! These are certainly some stars for the future!
Congratulations to the girls who took place in the Sciath na Scol indoor football blitz in Riverstick this week. We had 7 girls from 3rd class A participating and they were all excellent. The girls had 3 games throughout the day. They played really well and gave it their all! They were a credit to the school and really enjoyed the day!
The staff and students in CETNS were very lucky on Tuesday when we had a special visitor from the Theatrix theatre company! We were all treated to an incredible circus themed performance. The ringmaster performed some tricks himself, but the main stars of the show were the amazing volunteers from the audience. Aimee in our class was outstanding on stage and we were all cheering for her. We had lots of fun on dress up day before midterm break. There were skeletons, wizards, pirates and even minions wandering around our classroom!! Have a look at our fantastic costumes! Here are some of the wonderful creations we made in Art during maths week. They included 3D cars, robots and rockets. Some people created cool 2D house drawings as well.
This week we are celebrating Maths Week in CETNS. We are solving lots of puzzles everyday and looking forward to our whole school maths table quiz on Thursday afternoon! Here are our Maths Challenges for the week. The children in 3rd class A can choose any challenge and will be given a chance in Art class on Thursday morning to complete their challenge. If any materials are needed from home (recycled materials etc) children can bring these in during the week and it is part of their Talking Tuesday homework to plan their challenge and identify any items they may need to create it!
