We decided to make the most of the recent good weather and took our art class outside! We created cloud sketches using our pencils, sketchbooks and our imaginations! We then painted our sketches and had lots of fun doing it!
We enjoyed learning about the Vikings in History class and we made some cool Viking Ships using clay, paint, lollipop sticks and paper. We are very proud of our work!
In February Sara came in to talk about the art work of Georgia O'Keefe. Sara explained that Georgia's Art work looks at flowers from the perspective of a honey-bee. We used oil pastels to create amazing art pieces. Have a look at some of our pictures below!

We were so lucky to have Sara in with us again creating cat-like animals using chalk pastels. The children learned the value in sketching and how to draw using various circles to first create the structure of the body before using shading to create detail and colour. We also learned to start with lighter colours and then finish with darker colours to create the perfect masterpiece! Have a look at our work!

We were so lucky to have Conn's mum Sara come in to do art with us again! For this lesson we did clay creations based on Rodins "The Thinker". The children learned various techniques to use when working with clay and really enjoyed the lesson. Just look at the concentration on their faces!

Our Art Work
3/10/16-7/10/16
This week was Space Week. We learned lots about our Solar System. We discovered some "Fun Facts" about the different planets in our Solar System and then created Aliens suitable to live in these different environments. Some of our Aliens were made from rock and molten metal to survive very hot conditions, while others had thick fur skins and other adaptions to deal with colder weather. The Aliens are so creative and we really enjoyed using our imaginations to make them!
We also learned there is a dead star called "Lucy" in the constellation "Centauras" only 50 light years from Earth. This is no ordinary star however! As Lucy died and cooled down over the years carbon crystallized to form a giant Diamond worth 10 billion trillion trillion carats!!!!
